The election result held on March 9 in Sant Joan Despi was:
- PSC: 9588 votes (53.55%)
- PP: 3,029 votes (16.92%)
- CiU: 2,462 votes (13.75%) ICV-EUiA
- : 1,121 votes (6.26%)
- ERC: 757 votes (4.23%)
- C's: 238 votes (1.33%)
- Other options: 437 votes (2.17% ) white
- Votes: 274 votes (1.53%)
- Invalid ballots: 47 votes (0.26%)
Upon learning the results of the elections to the Congress of Deputies phrases repeated by minor parties (ie all but the PSOE and PP) have been the style of a "highly bipolarized campaign," "bipartisan tsunami," and the like. Our city has not escaped the tsunami and has followed the general trend throughout the state and Catalonia in particular as it could be otherwise.
Both PSC and PP rise in the percentage of votes on the elections four years ago and PP in particular also raises the number of votes. The PSC lost 224 votes.
As in the overall results more parties punished by the electorate of Sant Joan Despi-EUiA are ICV and ERC. The eco-socialist left party more than two percentage points, equivalent to 529 votes about four years ago. Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya for the percentage decrease ranges from 9.15 to 4.23 for four years now. 1001 votes are those who have left the path of other elections.
Convergence and Union has a loyal constituency that allows you to maintain virtually the percentage of votes and results obtained Ciutadans well below the other parties.
Once again it shows that granting the vote to people of different political formations based on what you're voting, and games valued differently depending whether elections are municipal, regional or general as has been case.
If we make a comparative view of these results with those that occurred in the last municipal elections can see clear differences. For example, the PP jump from third to second and gets double the votes. ICV happens to be the second most voted in the fourth and ERC, the 4.23% of votes obtained in the general election would not have served to have representation on the council.
